In a story that is a sad reminder that “President” Donald Trump’s outrageously cruel, haphazard, unconstitutional, and Islamophobic Executive Order 13769 (aka the Muslim Ban) is massively harming American citizens and visitors/tourists and the nation’s standing in the world (along with this Misadministration’s other miscues)-- especially from the seven countries listed (Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, and Somalia)-- 4 month old Fatemeh Reshad (Fatemah Taghizadeh) was born with two holes and structural abnormalities in her heart that required surgery to fix the issue and was initially denied entry to the United States to get her surgery done after the infamous Muslim Travel Ban EO was announced last week.

Brianna Provenzano at Mic:

An Iranian baby girl in desperate need of heart surgery has been blocked from entering the United States by President Donald Trump's recently imposed travel ban on citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries, according to the Associated Press.

On Friday, Amber Murray, the attorney for the baby's family, said that 4-month-old Fatemah Taghizadeh was born with two holes and structural abnormalities in her heart that doctors said would require at least one urgent surgery to correct.

"In Iran, there's a 20-30% chance of success with surgery," Murray said, compared to a "97% chance of success" in America.

But while the family was able to secure an appointment to get a tourist visa in Dubai on Feb. 5, it was abruptly cancelled after Trump's ban went into effect on January 27. Now the family is scrambling to save their daughter's life.

Samad Taghizadeh, the infant's uncle and a U.S. citizen who lives in Portland, Oregon, told the AP that the family has no time to waste in getting Fatemah the medical care she needs.

Alan Yuhas at The Guardian:

A four-month-old Iranian girl in need of an emergency heart surgery has received an emergency waiver for Donald Trump’s 90-day travel ban on Iranian citizens, New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced late Friday.

“This evening we were pleased to learn that the federal government has now granted Fatemeh Reshad and her family boarding documents to come to the United States,” Cuomo said in a statement Friday night. He said that a team of pediatric cardiac doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York had agreed to help the family pro bono, and that a law firm was funding the travel.

“Bizarrely, the federal ban would prevent this child from receiving medical care and literally endanger her life,” Cuomo said. “It is repugnant to all we believe as Americans and as members of the human family.”

Denis Slattery at NYDN:

An Iranian infant in need of lifesaving heart surgery can finally see a doctor in the U.S.

Four-month-old Fatemeh Reshad was scheduled to visit Portland, Ore., for a critical procedure when she was barred from entering the country due to President Trump’s travel ban put last week.

Her family’s anguish ended Friday when they were granted a waiver to enter the U.S., Gov. Cuomo told the Daily News.

Cuomo, smitten by the cherubic tyke and incensed over Trump’s ban, secured legal assistance for her family and said doctors at Mount Sinai have agreed to perform the much-needed procedure for free.

Thankfully, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo showed some common sense to secure a waiver to let in Reshad (Taghizadeh) from Iran (which is one of the seven countries on the outrageously unconstitutional Muslim Ban list in Executive Order 13769) so that she can have her heart surgery done and hopefully a much better chance at a healthy life.
