With the 2017-18 Premier League season starting on August 11th between Arsenal and Leicester City, it's time to give a preview on what will happen during the upcoming season. The league is turning 25 this year.
This year’s projected title race could be between Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham, with Arsenal and Liverpool long shots to it. Arsenal and Liverpool may not be big title favorites, but they could be competing for either Champions League or Europa League bids.
Everton, Bournemouth, West Ham, and Southampton could all contest for potential UEL slots.
Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United, and Huddersfield Town are promoted from the Championship. Of the three promoted teams, Newcastle has the best chance of staying up.
Middlesbrough, Hull City, and Sunderland have been relegated to the Championship. Teams that could be in danger of relegation this year are Burnley, Crystal Palace, Swansea City, Huddersfield Town, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Watford.
In European competition, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United (via winning the 2016-17 UEL) are representing the league and country in the UCL, while Arsenal and Everton are representing the league and country in UEL.
In the USA on TV, NBC, NBCSN, USA, and CNBC are airing the Premier League games in English and NBC Universo and Telemundo in Spanish. In the streaming world, NBC Sports has replaced Premier League Extra Time with Premier League Pass. Premier League Pass is a paid service for PL games NOT aired on one of the NBC-owned channels, supplanting the free (with cable/satellite authentication) Premier League Extra Time. Games that air on one of the NBC-owned networks are still free to stream (with cable/satellite authentication).
